List of top 30 companies in China's auto industry published

List of top 30 enterprises in China's auto industry was published by China Machinery Industry Federation and China Association of Automobile in Beijing on April 28, 2010.Of the top 30 enterprises in China's auto industry in 2009, there are 20 vehicle manufacturers, five auto-parts enterprises, five motorcycle manufacturers, 14 private enterprises, 13 state-owned enterprises and three foreign-funded enterprises. The list shows: top 5 enterprises by main business income among the vehicle manufacturers are Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group) Corporation (SAIC), China FAW Group Corporation (FAW), Dongfeng Motor, Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd. (GAIC) and Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd. (BAIC) in order; while the top 5 by output are Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group) Corporation (SAIC), China FAW Group Corporation (FAW), Dongfeng Motor, Chang'an Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd. (BAIC) accordingly. Statistics show that in 2009 the overall economic size of China's large auto enterprises stepped on to a new level, with operation quality significantly improved and industrial structure continually optimized. 30 large car enterprises reached 1.76 trillion yuan ($257 billion) in main business revenue, up 27.37% and earned a profit of 119.7 billion yuan, up 80.99%. In 2009, 20 vehicle manufacturers produced 12.93 million vehicles, accounting for 93.77% of the national total output of 13.79 million vehicles. While the sedan accounted for a higher proportion as 20 large enterprises produced 7.36 million vehicles, accounting for 98.61% of the national total output of 7.47 million vehicles.Among the top 30 enterprises, nine of them in 2003 and twenty-three of them in 2009 made an income of over 10 billion yuan in the main business, with the proportion of big enterprises growing from 30% in 2003 to 77% in 2009. Moreover, there was one enterprise (FAW) in 2003 and six in 2009 who reached 100 billion yuan in main business revenue, said Cai Weici, executive vice president for China Machinery Industry Federation. Cai Weici said, the enterprises with over 100 billion yuan earnings, have grown from 119.1 billion yuan in 2003 to 1.32 trillion yuan in main business revenue, up more than 100% in six years. The proportion of large enterprises increased from 21.61% in 2003 to 75.1% in 2009, which accounted for 47.51% in the main business revenue of the entire industry, indicating that the automotive industry concentration has been improving continually.
