N2a Motors' Anteros Is Italian Inspired - and American Made
After having success selling 20 models of its retro 789, n2a motors (which stands for no two alike) has priced and readied its Anteros coupe and roadster for production.
The car, based on the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette, was originally introduced at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. It encompasses a European look with an American drivetrain and chassis. The unique bodywork was fashioned with lightweight carbon fiber.
The Corvette's standard LS3 V8 is under the hood and makes an estimated 440 horsepower and 424 pound-feet of torque. The n2a custom exhaust gives it a 10-hp boost. For the power-hungry, a variety of superchargers, twin turbos and other engine modifications are offered as well. Both the black roadster and the silver coupe come standard with a hand-stitched leather interior, three-piece aluminum wheels and a navigation system.
Gene Langmesser, president and CEO of n2a, told Inside Line: 'Following the 789, this is our second product we have put on the market. We just started production January 1, and its styling is reminiscent of older European cars from Aston Martin, Jaguar and even Ferrari.'
The transformation from a stock 2009 Corvette into the custom Anteros takes more than 800 hours but doesn't void Chevrolet's 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. The standard coupe runs for $149,500, while the convertible is somewhat pricier at $154,500.
