Apr. 17th 2009 Taipei£Taipei International Auto Parts & Accessories Show (Taipei AMPA) and Taipei International Automobile Electronics Show (AutoTronics) were concluded successfully. A total of 5,200 foreign buyers participated in the four-day event, a massive 22% growth compared to last year, and according to the exhibitors, there was a marked increase in number of buyers from emerging markets. With the opportunity to meet with prominent buyers from Ukraine, Kenya and Russia this year, many exhibitors said they saw some new faces in addition to the usual clientele. The export of Taiwan¡¯s auto parts and accessories industry looks promising in the near future. In addition to the BMW visit the show every year, the Audi held procurement seminar with Taiwanese manufactures. Also, more than 100 major buyers from 30 countries, such as FEDERAL MOGUL (UK), POLCAR (Poland), GSP (U.S.), AGRALE (Brazil), SHAIKH ABDUL KHALIQ & SONS (UAE), Yamagata Parts Co., Ltd. (Japan), AXLES (India), FUTURIS AUTOMOTIVE, DELPHI (Australia) and MEYDAN OTOMOTIV (Turkey) joined a total of 500 one-on-one procurement meetings with local manufacturers on Apr. 15th, creating US$ 44 million of potential business opportunities. A joint trade meeting also took place on April 16th between a group of 70-plus prominent buyers from Kenya and domestic suppliers.

According to a poll conducted on foreign buyers by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), this year the most popular event were ¡°New product launch¡±, ¡°Innovation Awards Showcases¡± and ¡±Green Power Product Showcases. The results indicate that Taiwanese manufacturers¡¯ ability of innovations and the speed at which they are catching up with global trends have not gone unnoticed by international buyers. Taipei AMPA and AutoTronics will be held from Apr. 12th to 15th 2010 at TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall. Given the trend toward eco-friendly and energy-efficient electric cars, the exhibition organizer TAITRA plans to dedicate a section of the event to ¡°Parts and Accessories for Electric Cars¡±.
