2008 São Paulo Auto Show: Chevrolet GPiX

SÃO PAULO — General Motors on Monday formally unveiled the Chevrolet GPiX crossover coupe concept at the 2008 São Paulo Auto Show. Developed by GM's Brazilian design studio, the GPiX 'represents a potential new segment for GM' in South America, the company said.Early word on the GPiX — the name is meant to represent 'global image' — was revealed last week. GPiX is one of the centerpieces of GM's ambitious plan to remake its South American product portfolio over the next four years. The four-seat GPiX is a two-door with high ground clearance that borrows styling cues from the new Chevrolet Cruze. It features LED headlamps, 17-inch wheels and tires and a panoramic glass roof. The GPiX 'could result in the development of many models' for the South American market, according to Jaime Ardila, president of General Motors Brazil and Mercosur.Inside Line says: This one might fly in the Northern Hemisphere, too. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
