2008 Moscow Auto Show Preview: Renault Symbol

PARIS — Renault will formally unveil its redesigned Symbol sedan next week at the 2008 Moscow Auto Show. The Symbol, a sibling of the Renault Thalia and Nissan Platina, is designed primarily for emerging markets in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey and North Africa.

Whereas the previous Symbol was essentially a notchback version of the Clio II hatchback, the new edition will share more bits with the Dacia Logan, Renault's low-cost compact from Romania. The new Symbol will continue to be positioned above the Logan and its notchback companion, the Sandero.

Renault said the Symbol will feature a range of modern four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines.
