DEARBORN, Michigan - The 2009 Ford Mustang rolls into U.S. dealerships with a new $1,995 glass-roof option available on both V6 and GT models.

The coupelike panoramic roof treatment features tinted reflective glass and includes a manually operated roller blind to block the sun.

The '09 Mustang also gets additional equipment as part of the Premium packages offered on the V6 and GT, including Sirius Satellite Radio, ambient lighting and satin aluminum trim on the instrument panel. An optional GT Security Package bundles a wheel lock and an active anti-theft system.

Ford continues to fit the 210-horsepower 4.0-liter SOHC V6 to the Mustang V6 coupe and convertible, while the Mustang GT coupe and convertible get the 300-hp 4.6-liter V8. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard with either engine, and a five-speed automatic is an extra-cost option.

Returning for 2009 with few significant changes is the Mustang Bullitt. Its high-output 4.6-liter V8 makes 315 hp and 325 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a Tremec TR-3650 five-speed manual gearbox. Ford plans to build 3,000 copies in '09.

The 2010 Mustang will get a substantial makeover, with new sheet metal, significant hardware upgrades and a heavily revised cabin.
