Porsche Cars North America said the 2010 Panamera will go on sale October 17 in the U.S., with prices starting at just under $90,000. The Panamera makes its official world debut at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show in April.

All U.S.-bound Panameras will offer one of two direct-injection V8 engines, as well as a standard seven-speed PDK double-clutch transmission and an engine stop-start system for better fuel economy.

The entry-level Panamera S is rear-wheel drive and features a 400-horsepower 4.8-liter V8. It is priced at $89,800, and Porsche says it will hit 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. The all-wheel-drive Panamera 4S gets the same engine (but shaves 0.4 second off its 0-60 time thanks to all-wheel-drive grip) and has a sticker of $93,800. Prices do not include destination.

The range-topping Panamera Turbo also features all-wheel drive and a twin-turbo 500-hp version of the 4.8-liter V8. Porsche says this model has a top speed of 188 mph and will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds. The price is $132,600.

The U.S. prices are considerably lower than those in Europe, where the Panamera S will start at just over $120,000 and the Panamera Turbo will fetch nearly $175,000.
