SAIC to get auto-parts business listed in '09

Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) said on Thursday that it plans to complete a backdoor whole listing of its auto-parts business this year, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

Completing the listing plan is one of the key tasks for the company, according to SAIC, which has three major operations including whole car, auto parts and service trade. The company has completed overall listing of its whole car business recently.

Some of SAIC's auto-parts business was listed through Shanghai Bashi Industrial (Group) Co previously. SAIC obtained 440 million shares or 40 percent stake under an asset-for-equity deal in September 2008.

SAIC, which owns joint ventures with General Motors and Volkswagen AG and controls SAIC Motor Corp, has eventually added its stake in Bashi to 1.52 billion yuan, or 60.10 percent, through directional share placement.
