Bill Ford steps down as chairman of museum complex

Ford Motor Co. Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. has announced he will step down as board chairman of The Henry Ford museum complex.

Ford said in a statement Tuesday he would continue to work with the Dearborn-based landmark founded by his great-grandfather Henry Ford in 1929. Bill Ford remains a board trustee.

The Henry Ford spokeswoman Wendy Metros said Ford "felt it was time to welcome new leadership to the board" after 13 years. He joined the board in 1988 and was elected chairman in 1996.

Ford has been replaced by S. Evan Weiner, a board member since 2004 and executive vice president and chief operating officer of Edw. C. Levy Co., a construction materials company.

The complex includes the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.
