2009 Geneva Auto Show: KTM X-Bow ROC and Superlight
GENEVA — KTM is showing two new variants of its X-Bow at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show called the Superlight and the ROC. The Superlight features lightweight construction that eliminates the roof, windshield, air-conditioning and entertainment system to give the driver a feeling similar to driving a motorcycle. The body is made of a carbon-fiber monocoque and is powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI engine from Audi that makes 240 horsepower. A smooth racing underbody, front splitter and rear diffuser help with aerodynamics, while a performance suspension and limited-slip differential upgrade handling on the Austrian roadster. This top-of-the-line X-Bow will start at a price equivalent to $101,000.In dedication to the Race of Champions, KTM created its X-Bow ROC that will be made in a limited production of 30 units. Performance-wise, it gets the same carbon-fiber monocoque, 2.0-liter TFSI engine, adjustable suspension and limited-slip differential found on the Superlight. The exterior has a unique Race of Champions paint job that covers the vehicle in an orange, black and white theme that is carried to the painted black rims. For $88,580, KTM will even throw in a Schuberth helmet and an X-Bow indoor car cover.KTM is also showcasing its three other X-Bow variants at Geneva: the X-Bow Street, the Clubsport and the high-end GT4.Inside Line says: KTM has expanded its X-Bow lineup from one to five models in just a year. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
