A couple from Kolkata Kanishk Sinha and Lipika developed a fuel less environment friendly auto engine. The engine is switched on by a chemical reaction between zinc and oxygen therefore it is pollution free. This technology also enhances durability of the engine.

 

The engine could be used in water pumps, cars and other three wheelers. The couple established the company which is registered in the US five years ago with Rs.1 billion raised from non-resident Indians. The engine is patented with Big Patents India, a body supported by the Ford Foundation.

 

The couple is looking for land in Bardhaman district to set up a manufacturing unit in India although all the engines were sourced from US. Jasper has set up a 28-dealer network in Rajasthan, Bihar and New Delhi, and intends to add 15 more dealers in the next few months



Although the company manufactures 15,000 engines a month, the couple will not enhance production but will concentrate more on marketing.  They also plan to write a petition in the Calcutta High Court, seeking permission to get the environment friendly engine fitted on to the city's auto-rickshaws.
