Superformance and Roush Team Up for Special Edition Shelby Replica

IRVINE, California — Superformance, the only Shelby-licensed maker of Cobra kit vehicles, has joined hands with Roush to create a special-edition Cobra kit with 576 horsepower. The Superformance MKIII features a Roush 427 V8 and weighs a mere 2,600 pounds. It was constructed to be an exact replica of the original Shelby in dimensions, and it is also loaded with a slew of upgrades to modernize the Shelby experience.Originally built for the 2007 SEMA Show, the vehicle has Wilwood power-assisted vented disc brakes, GTP sway bars, Bilstein shocks, H&R springs and huge 18-inch American Racing pin-drive rims. The fiberglass body is supported with a TIG-welded ladder frame chassis with crumple zones for extra safety. To complete the Shelby replica experience, the car has a Monza red paint job with silver stripes.The interior gets original style Smith gauges, Cobra seats with custom embroidery, four-point harness seatbelts, black chrome trim and a steering wheel that stays true to the classic look.The package is on sale as an upgrade for the standard MKIII chassis, and it comes with a two-year/24,000-mile warranty.Inside Line says: This powerful replica kit captures the classic look and performance of the original Cobra. —Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
