Bruce Willis Cars and Steve McQueen Memorabilia at Auction Together This Weekend
LOS ANGELES - Bruce Willis is parting with several of his customized muscle cars at auction this weekend, in the same sale with personal effects and memorabilia from the family of late action hero Steve McQueen. The Bonhams & Butterfields auction will take place at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon.
On the Willis car list are three convertibles: a 1968 Shelby GT500, a 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400, and a 1957 Chevrolet Corvette. Undoubtedly the star of the Die Hard movies liked to feel the wind in his hair. The trio are on display all week at the museum in advance of the sale. In a neat bit of synergy, there's also a 1969 Dodge Charger coupe that Willis had customized to match the one in the classic Steve McQueen film Bullitt.
The Steve McQueen items, which include photos, movie posters and other personal effects, come from the collection of McQueen's first wife, Neile McQueen Toffel.
This is Bonhams & Butterfields' sixth annual fall sale held at the museum. Since it is held in conjunction with a motorcycle-related charity event, the Love Ride, there are numerous motorcycles in the auction catalog as well.
The full catalog can be browsed at the Bonhams Web site.
