Should GM and Chrysler combine?
Livonia Merger would be harmfulThe possible merger between General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC will be harmful for both companies: General Motors suffers from arrogance and bad management, while Cerberus, the company that owns Chrysler, doesn't even understand the automotive business. It would amount to a blind person getting married to another blind person. Because of a global over-capacity of the auto manufacturing business, there is a need for consolidation, but there has to be a synergy between the merging companies. Pradeep Srivastava Detroit Preserve unique vehiclesI'd hate to see this happen. While I don't own a Chrysler or GM product, each offers some unique vehicles that would be lost in the merger -- the 300, Charger and Challenger being among them. Jeep will remain, which is a good thing. As for Hummer, I'd hate to see it go. Hummers are the only good-looking trucks that GM builds. Stephen Backs Pembroke Pines, Fla. Merger expedites demiseThe only benefits that I can possibly see are a much quicker demise for both GM and Chrysler and a quick bailout for Cerberus. Wayne Pigeon Sterling Heights
