SCOTTSDALE, Arizona — The 2008 Barrett-Jackson Edition Shelby GT, which gets such touches as a Barrett-Jackson gas cap insert and doorsill plates, will be one of the showstoppers at this weekend's inaugural Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Las Vegas. Another one to watch is a 1980 Ford Mustang, dubbed 'Black Beauty,' which was owned by the actress Bette Davis. The Shelby GT hits the auction block on Saturday during Speed's TV coverage of the event. The pony car is one of seven vehicles that will be sold at no reserve to benefit various charities. The proceeds from the sale of the Shelby GT, number eight of 100 produced, will benefit The Lili Claire Foundation. The foundation benefits children living with neurogenetic conditions. Other vehicle sales that will benefit charities during the event include Kurt Busch's No. 2 Dodge Charger, a 2006 Mercury Volga Milan and a 2006 Ford Mustang GT customized by Funkmaster Flex.The Bette Davis car has been on display at the Petersen Automotive museum and includes sales receipts, correspondence, owner I.D. cards and original license plates, said the auction house in a statement. Davis called a Los Angeles area Ford dealership to order the Mustang for her 72nd birthday.
