Lamborghini to show four-door-coupe concept in Paris
We were right - Lamborghini will be bringing a four-door concept to the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The bullish brand has released two teasers of a car that it plans to show in Paris accompanied by a short press release saying nothing else than “It’s not just a new Lamborghini. It’s a new world.”
Well, it will be a new segment for Lamborghini to fight in against other upcoming rivals such as the Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera. Company sources have told Automotive News Europe, that the four-door-coupe Lamborghini will broaden the companys lineup of sports car buyers.
Sources said that the third model in the Lamborghini lineup will be a front-engine sedan built on a four-wheel-drive architecture. Power could come from a smaller Audi-supplied direct-injection, twin-turbocharged?engine than Lamborghinis already smallest 5.0L V10.
No word on when Lamborghini plans to put the model into production but sources said that the four-door-coupe could be an all-aluminum vehicle based on the next Audi A8.
Lamborghini is planning on about 3,000 units annually, the same as Aston Martin is planning with the Rapide. Porsche is planning on 20,000 Panameras a year.
