Maserati baby GranTurismo to get a folding metal roof
We already know that Maserati is working on a Spyder (convertible) version of the GranTurismo.?Also, in the works is a baby sibling to the GranTurismo that will most likely be a Spyder?setup as well - targeting the Porsche 911 and Jaguar XK with a price range of £60,000 ($105,440 USD).
According to AutoExpress latest spy shots, the baby GranTurismo will get a folding metal roof. Inspired by the Ferrari California, the roof will be electrically operated and will disappear into the boot in about 14 seconds.
Under the hood will be a less powerful version of big brother GranTurismos 4.2 liter V8 producing close to 400-hp. 0 to 60 mph is expected to come in around 5 seconds with a top speed of 170 mph. Insiders say it will also have a stiffer suspension than the GranTurismo, giving it a more sportier drive. Transmission setup will consist of Maserati’s DuoSelect paddleshift rather than a full automatic.
Expect a release date of early 2009, with sales to kick off late next year.
