Jeep Grand Cherokee Downsized to Crossovers

Ford said last month that it would convert three of its North American plants from producing truck-based models to producing cars. Bringing into the U.S. market six of its European car and crossover models, the automaker expects its compact car sales to reach 2 million within five years.

Now word is coming out of Chrysler that it will be converting plants from producing Jeep Grand Cherokees into producing more fuel efficient, car-based crossovers. It is reported that the company will be investing as much as $1.8 billion in the plan.
