Finally, Steve Millstein, CEO of the ATX Group, offered a suggestion.

'Move it to southern California,' he said.

No thanks, sun and fun

Even that might not help. During another panel discussion, executives bemoaned the unwillingness of younger managers to relocate.

'The mind-set of the kids today is very, very different,' said Richard Colliver, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co. 'They're not willing to take the sacrifices it takes.'

He said Honda is even having a hard time convincing new recruits to relocate from Michigan to sunny southern California.

Chrysler Co-vice Chairman and President Tom LaSorda made a string of jokes -- before excusing himself at a quick lunch with reporters. He had a good reason -- he promised his wife he would be home by 4 p.m., as they were moving to Birmingham from Bloomfield Hills. He wouldn't disclose the precise location, he joked, for fear that a local reporter would stake out his home -- or try to track him down at Starbucks.

You've heard of 2-for-1 deals on dinners, doughnuts and DVDS, but now houses are entering the twofer market, too.

Coldwell Banker Realtor Harry Ackley is listing two properties for the price of one. At a price tag of $1.795 million, some lucky buyer will get the keys to a custom-built, four-bedroom house in Plymouth Township. The sellers will throw in, free of charge, a new construction vacation home on Ohio's Catawba Island.

With million-dollar houses glutting the market, 'we were trying to come up with a new idea,' Ackerly said. 'I said, 'Let's put it together.''

The 7,078-square-foot main house has four bathrooms, a three-car garage and a wet bar. The two-bedroom vacation home, part of the owner's Fairway Villas development, boasts an 18-hole golf course, marina, pond views, and heated outdoor pool. Prices normally start at $190,000.

The listing has 'generated lots of calls,' Ackley said.
