Beijing Auto: still willing to discuss IPR with GM on Opel

Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. is willing to further discuss intellectual property rights with General Motors Corp. (GM) after GM rejected the Chinese auto maker's bid for Adam Opel GmbH, Beijing Auto Chairman Xu Heyi said during a state radio broadcast Friday.
 
"We still believe that Beijing Auto is a very good partner for GM's development in China and we remain willing to take discussions on IPR arrangements a step further," Xu said.
 
Beijing Auto had gained experience and lessons from its failed attempt to buy a stake in Opel, the radio report said.
 
"GM was worried that after we acquired Opel and obtained its intellectual property rights, we would impact their interests in China and its relationships with its existing partners," Xu said.
