Geely, Chery said to build plants in Indonesia

Two Chinese automakers, Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. and Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., are rumored to build factories in Indonesia.
 
Both have gained the regulatory approval from Indonesia and will invest about USD 199.6 million, said sources. One of them will make MPV models in the country, they added. Analysts stressed that low cost in the Indonesian market would attract more attention from Chinese automaker.
 
Notably, Hong Kong-listed Geely Automobile has recently announced that it would earmark USD 30 million for the expansion of its sales network, earlier reports said.
 
Chery Automobile, based in the central mainland province of Anhui, is also working on its business expansion both at home and abroad. It will put Tiggo into the Brazilian market and the SUV model will start marketing in stores of 27 dealers in 25 Brazilian cities at the end of July 2009. China-made QQ and A3, and Uruguay-built A1 will also drive into the Brazilian market at the end of this year.
