Lotus Prepares for Evora Launch With Driving Simulator and Matchbox Car

LONDON - Visitors to the had a few choices of ways to experience the new performance-driven . Alongside the real thing were an advanced driving simulator and a 1:64 scale Matchbox twin.

Test-driving the new Lotus will be easy with the car's inclusion in a special demo of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Polyphony's digital version of the Evora was unveiled simultaneously with the vehicle, and fans are able to put their skills to the test via a demo pod located on the Lotus stand. The game allows players to burn some rubber on the new London city circuit while virtually sightseeing at such landmarks as Piccadilly Circus, Shaftesbury Avenue and Trafalgar Square.

The Matchbox die-cast model version of the new Lotus midengine coupe is a 1:64 scale model almost as detailed as the actual vehicle. Lotus first shared its CAD surface data with Mattel in April, and the resulting Matchbox car includes the full-size Evora's window tint and hood vents, and is covered in the same shade of Quartz Silver paint.

The Lotus Evora will hit the U.K. market in the spring of 2009.
