Chrysler in JV talks with Tata Motors

Chrysler in talks with Tata Motors. Tata Motors is likely to sell Jeep Wrangler SUVs in India and other Asian markets as it extends an alliance with Chrysler. Chrysler expects a deal with Tata to open market for its Wrangler jeeps in India. The Wrangler is an off-road vehicle produced by American automaker Chrysler under its Jeep marque. 

Tata Motors Limited is India's largest automobile company, with revenues of Rs. 32,426 crores (USD 7.2 billion) in 2006-07. It is the leader by far in commercial vehicles in each segment, and the second largest in the passenger vehicles market with winning products in the compact, midsize car and utility vehicle segments. The company is the world's fifth largest medium and heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer, and the world's second largest medium and heavy bus manufacturer.

Chrysler LLC, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Mich., produces Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Mopar brand vehicles and products. Total sales worldwide in 2007 were 2.68 million vehicles. Sales outside of North America were the highest in a decade with an increase of 15 percent from 2006. The Company’s product lineup features some of the world’s most recognizable vehicles, including the Chrysler 300, Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Charger.
