US April light vehicle market dropped by a third

Provisional market date reported by Autodata Corporation indicates that US light vehicle sales dropped 32.2% year on year last month to 907,064 units, with car demand falling 19.7% to 500,273 and light trucks by 43.2% to 406,791.
 
GM¡¯s total sales were down 16.2%, Ford¡¯s 12.1%, but Toyota¡¯s a comparative modest 3.5%. With the Ford group total Jaguar¡¯s US sales last month rose 25.4% to 1,785 after the launch of the new XF saloon, while, reversing recent trends in the two brands¡¯ US sales, Land Rover¡¯s dropped 39.3% to 2,557.
