Hayes Lemmerz sells Belgian unit

SCHILTACH, Germany ¡ª BBS International GmbH, a subsidiary of the Belgian industrial holding company Punch International NV, has acquired a Belgian subsidiary of Hayes Lemmerz International Inc.
 
BBS has acquired Hayes Lemmerz Belgie and its plant in Hoboken, Belgium. The plant makes cast aluminum wheels for cars and employs about 315 people.
 
Another Punch subsidiary, Punch Property International NV, has agreed to buy real estate and equipment at Hayes' Gainesville, Ga., plant.
 
Last month Hayes said it would close that plant, which employs 290 workers, by year end. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
 
BBS, of Schiltach, and Hayes Lemmerz, of suburban Detroit, make wheels for the automotive industry.
